Tern UAV and trailer-mounted
pneumatic launcher |

Easton,
MD -
BAI Aerosystems has successfully adapted its trailer-mounted pneumatic
launcher for operation with the company's Tern small tactical UAV.
The addition of a launcher capability to the combat-proven Tern
UAV system enables operations from unimproved areas, or aboard ship.
BAI's pneumatic launcher was developed in the late 1990's in close
cooperation with U.S. Navy engineers for use with the U.S. Marine
Corps' "Dragon Drone" system also produced by BAI. The
launcher mechanism was proven in two 6-month long naval deployments
of the Dragon Drone system, and was later used to support the U.S.
Coast Guard's month-long at-sea experiment with the "Condor"
UAV, a marinized variant of Dragon Drone developed by BAI.
This video clip was shot using a fully-weighted standard configuration
Tern UAV, at BAI Aerosystems' private Ragged Island Flight Operations
Facility located in the Chesapeake Bay.
