Richard Bernstein Named Winner Of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2004 Award

 
 

Baltimore, MD, June 18, 2004 – Richard Bernstein, President and CEO of BAI Aerosystems, Inc., was named a winner by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2004 Awards in Maryland in the Manufacturing category. Mr. Bernstein was selected from 28 finalists in Maryland by an independent panel of judges comprised of local community and business leaders and announced at an award banquet on June 17, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore.

BAI Aerosystems is a leading manufacturer of unmanned aircraft systems, whose products include a family of small aircraft, avionics, sensors, and support equipment and services used by the U.S. military and its allies. UAV technology has proven successful in saving the lives of members of armed forces and in maximizing the military’s tax dollars. Mr. Bernstein oversees the research and development of BAI’s UAV systems and has created the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing systems and processes.

Richard Bernstein is the founder of K&L Microwave, Inc., a producer of RF/electronic components used in defense, space and communications equipment. The growth of K&L in Salisbury, Maryland, spawned a major industry, bringing in more than $150 million annually to the local community. Mr. Bernstein’s current business interests in Maryland include Lorch Microwave, a leading supplier of electronic components for the communications industry, and Salisbury Inc., a noted manufacturer of fine pewter and sterling giftware items.

Mr. Bernstein will now be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2004 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the Overall National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, CA on November 20, 2004.
