Easton, Maryland - Richard Bernstein, President and CEO of BAI Aerosystems, Inc., was honored in Jerusalem on January 14, 2004, with the Albert Einstein Aerospace Technology Award recognizing his leadership in the microwave communications and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) industries, both critical technologies to US defense initiatives the world over. The award ceremony, in the presence of Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz and Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lopolianski, was a highlight of the first-ever Defense Aerospace and Homeland Security Mission of Peace to Israel and Jordan sponsored by Israel's Ministry of Internal Security and the Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah.

Mr. Bernstein's fellow honorees included US Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security Robert P. Liscouski, Senators Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) and Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska), Congressmen John Linder (R-Georgia) and John McHugh (R-New York), and Greenberg Traurig Managing Shareholder and former Under Secretary of the Army Joe Reeder.

Learning the Israel behind the headlines, Bernstein met with Israel's top policymakers, including Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom, Internal Security Minister Tzachi Hanegbi, Industry & Trade Minister Ehud Olmert and former Prime Minister and Nobel Laureate Shimon Peres. Jordan's King Abdullah hosted Bernstein, and wife, Ellen, and the other members of the Peace Mission in the Royal Palace in Amman, Jordan.

Richard Bernstein is the founder of K&L Microwave, Inc., a producer of RF/electronic components used in defense, space and communications equipment. The growth of K&L in Salisbury, Maryland, spawned a major industry, bringing in more than $150 million annually to the local community. Among the numerous high-tech companies now located in Salisbury is Mr. Bernstein's Lorch Microwave, a leading supplier of microwave components.

BAI Aerosystems is a leading manufacturer of unmanned aircraft systems, whose products include a family of aircraft, avionics, sensors, and support equipment and services used by the U.S. military and its allies. UAV technology has proven successful in saving the lives of members of our armed forces and in maximizing the military's tax dollars. Mr. Bernstein oversees the research and development of the firm's UAV systems and has created state-of-the-art manufacturing systems and processes.

Mr. Bernstein and his wife reside in Oxford, Maryland.
